I chose the career path of a technical communicator because I believe everyone deserves equal access to information, especially individuals with disabilities. Watching my two blind cousins navigate a world that has not always prioritized accessibility shaped my commitment to this work.

As a Technical Writer–Assistant Editor in the federal government, I support Section 508 compliance, ensuring that all electronic and information technology is accessible to people with disabilities. This federal mandate, rooted in the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and expanded in 1998, guarantees equal access to the documents our government creates and relies upon.
